When many large companies are considering a new product line, the primary drivers for consideration are demand, cost, and margin. How many people want this product, how much will it take to produce, and how much profit can we get on sales? This line of thinking has often led to cheap goods mass-produced, using unreal synthetic material, and lacking the quality needed to withstand the test of time.

But something interesting is happening. Consumers are beginning to rebel.

We’re realizing that food produced closer to home and grown without pesticides actually tastes better and is better for us. We don’t want to use personal care products on our bodies filled with an alphabet soup of unnatural ingredients. We’ve decided that quality matters, choosing hand-made and small batch garments and durable goods instead of pieces that tear or break shortly after they’re purchased.

We as consumers are returning to our roots; looking for unique pieces and products made by real people, choosing craftsmanship over mass-production, all-natural over genetically-modified, and mission-aligned over profit-driven.

Over the next few weeks, DoneGood will be highlighting real brands making a real difference. Their products are good and their stories are even better. Companies like Melanzana, a small homegrown outdoor clothing company in Colorado that’s creating good-paying jobs all in the USA. Indigenous is committed to livable wages for culturally diverse artisans and using only organic and natural fibers. And Preserve is an environmentally-focused lifestyle company offering a range of everyday products for almost every room in the house.

These companies will all be featured through our newest product to be released this fall, a browser extension that shows you the DoneGood alternative for whatever kind of product you’re searching for online (for example, if you search Google or Amazon for a fleece, you’ll see an alert letting you know that Melanzana makes small batch fleeces and pays a living wage, and you can click to see them).

We’re looking for beta testers, so if you’d like to help us make a real good product, please click here and let us know what you think!

Every new product we develop is another tool for achieving the same goal: to make it as easy as possible for people to discover the stories of underdogs, determined to build a profitable business and make the world better at the same time. We want them to succeed. The world needs them to succeed!

Please become a beta tester if you’d like to get a sneak peek at our newest product and continue to join us in our mission to change the way the world does business!
