If you love to run or cycle, and you care about the environment, you need to know about Atayne.

The activewear company was started by Jeremy Litchfield after he ran a half-marathon and the red dye from his shirt bled all over him. He refused to accept people should have to wear shirts filled with toxins harmful to their bodies and the earth. So he quit his job the next week and started making high-performance shirts from recycled plastic bottles (out of his parent’s garage to start), using all-natural dyes, and with each one made-to-order to reduce waste (most companies make a ton of stuff ahead of time and toss what doesn’t sell). His scrappy story inspired us enough to pay him a visit at Atayne’s headquarters in Brunswick, Maine.
